Who We Are

Ben Tieu - Olympic Weightlifting Coach
Ben founded the George Mason Olympic Weightlifting team in 2021 and got his USAW L1 to coach that same year. Ever since, he has served as the head coach of the team. Ben has experience coaching and programing for beginners every semester to seasoned colligate lifters on their prep for University Nationals.
Tae Kim - Personal Trainer and Olympic Weightlifting Coach
Tae has been lifting for over 10 years and his dedication to the sport of Weightlifting and fitness is undeniable. Tae has helped people of all ages and sizes achieve their goals and get stronger.
The Overheaders

The Overheaders is The Powerhouse's open Olympic Weightlifting Team. Everyone on the team gets access to a private team practice session every Saturday for no extra charge on top of the group training membership.

In order to qualify for The Overheaders, you must have been a member of The Powerhouse for 2 months, be able to qualify for the Virus Weightlifting Series, and shown consistent and passionate dedication to improving in the sport.
Group Coaching
To ensure the best quality feedback and maximize time and attention, group coaching is limited to 4 people per session.

George Mason University Olympic Weightlifting Team


The Powerhouse is proud to host the George Mason University team.

Every Friday, any GMU student who has paid club dues to GMU Olympic Weightlifting can drop into the Powerhouse for free.

In addition, students get a discount on all gym and coaching plans.
